about

CandyAppleRed is the nom de musique of Hertfordshire based musician and photographer David Laws. Dave started playing in ... more bedroom bands in the 70s and only really got back into music after a long layoff in the late 90s. His self-produced music spans a number of genres, from heavy post-rock to ambient, sometimes a hint of Celtic rock, sometimes acoustic, and with a touch of 70s prog thrown in. less

Track Name: 3SMiaPB
Three small men in a plasticene boat.
What will they find on a Marmalade sea?
Dreaming of dolphins and whales in pyjamas
And elephants drinking peppermint tea...
Track Name: Loweswater
The walls here are of dry stone
Protecting pink-eared lambs and sheep in brown woolly jumpers

There’s a stream down there between the trees
But you hardly notice
For all around are the mountains.

Whiteside and Grasmoor to the left
And ahead Mellbreak with a small cottage at its foot.
You’ve surfed the scree on Green Crag
Diced with death on Striding Edge
And standing on Illgill Head, turned your face from the madness of Windscale to Yewbarrow and Green Gable in the west

But this is the moment
Drinking the mountains
There’s not much here – just a church and an inn.
(“Blessings of your heart, you brew good ale”.)

This is the moment
Defining the memory
The light of an angel’s smile
Living on in lakeland spring
