about

"the Drowning Moon" is a new download from hard to pigeon-hole one-man-band CandyAppleRed, featuring eight dark instrumental tracks recorded between 2009 and 2011.

It is a brooding, atmospheric journey through an experimental post-rock, ambient and heavy prog landscape. Complex without ever being virtuoso or showy, there are strange time sigs and tempo changes, but no shredding. Mellotron samples and layered synths shimmer over the long and ever-changing guitar dominated soundscapes.

Self-produced by English multi-instrumentalist David Laws, the Drowning Moon cuts across many genres, and will appeal to fans of Isis, God is an Astronaut, Porcupine Tree, Guapo, Ankedoten and bands at the heavier end of post rock.

The following real and virtual instruments were
harmed in the making of this production:

guitars: washburn hb35, fender stratocaster, line 6 variax, sigma acoustic, aria pro 11 bass
keyboards: korg n364, korg ms2000r, gforce m-tron
drums: roland spd6 percussion pad, zoom rt123
effects: line 6 pod, korg toneworks, zoom b2 bass fx, e-bow
other: stagg electric violin, samples and loops
